It's been a while since I've posted some cartoons for all you Wonkie Lovers out there. This is largely because I've been busy setting up a couple of websites on executive coaching and also creating the template for a new Guru Cartoon strip on Wabber. Both of these are almost done and ready to launch now so more on this later.
2011 has certainly been off to an interesting start with the election fever settling in in South Africa and all sorts of turmoil internationally - not least of which the events in North Africa which seem to be unprecedented. One can only hope that the situation resolves there peacefully soon.
In more entertaining news, the Kunene sushi party saga continues in South Africa with a twist. Kenny has had his vibe squashed by the ANC authorities in an attempt to redeem themselves from negative associated publicity before the 2011 local elections. The man certainly knows how to party and it's a pity we won't be seeing too many more pictures of him eating sushi of sexy ladies... for now!
On the executive coaching and business coaching side, there will be a cartoon strip being launched shortly titled Coach Potato... that will definitely be a fun read for all those in the coaching and mentoring industry. Stayed tuned next week when the coaching content will be launched internationally!
In the meantime, if you have any suggestions for coaching humour please feel free to pass them on - it would be great to get your input and get things going again in 2011! For those of you that are based outside South Africa and are not interested in coaching or cartoons, check out the latest online casinos that accept paypal - that ought to keep you entertained for some time :)

Customer Service humour
So we've all had our share of eventful conversations with someone in a call centre based somwehere in India or the Phillipines. But what about customer service offline - in most places in the world it certainly is quite sucky!
Wonkie has come up with in my opinion quite a brilliant post listing 10 tips for delivering superiorly poor service to your customers/ clients. It seems there is a lot of validity to the tips and the explanations about the reason for each of them are even funnier!
Check out the Customer Service South Africa cartoon here. Now wouldn't it be great if the Department of Tourism actually used some of this content in some of their own training material?!
On another note, it appears that SA has banned Online Casino South Africa including the one with the infamous Dolf Lundgren (Silver sands casino - whatever will poor South Africans do now that their entertainment is being taken away? The question is what will Wonkie do now in terms of advertising! MBA life coaching perhaps? LOL

Funny Julius Malema jokes
So Mr Malema is heading for his disciplinary hearing today and Wonkie thought it would be a great idea to show South Africans' support for Julius. So, they published a giant funny Julius Malema joke omnibus.
There is a collection of funny material from all over the internet including popular South African blogs like watkykjy.co.za and Hayibo. There are also a few select items from Jeremy Nell and the infamous Zapiro - so for your one stop shop for Malemamania, go check out:

Wonkielover joins many South Africans in wishing Mr Malema the best over his disciplinary hearing - hopefully more people actually up there this week. May the young gentleman get what he deserves.

Controversial cartooning
Now Wonkie CartOOns has been know to push the boundaries of cartooning but this time it seems they may have pushed too far. The latest Chuck Norris cartoon playing games with the Gods has certainly pee'd off quite a few people - some 20% of readers even voting that Wonkie is going to go to hell for blasphemy for it.

For this Friday, there is a photo caption contest - enter now and you could win a cool Wonkie t-shirt!

Enjoy the weekend and look forward to introducing some new material next week!

Happy 2010!
To all cartoon lovers out there - I would like to wish you a very happy 2010. 2009 was a bit of a write-off. I got quite caught up with work and travel and didn't have much time to update the site after May - so my New Year's resolution is to be a bit more regular informing you about the latest and greatest in cartoon sites.
This year the plan is to focus on local South African cartoonists as well as some more geeky type humour targeted at niche communities like the legal, spiritual and IT groups.
Enjoy the year ahead and hope 2010 is an amazing year for you all. If you do come across any interesting sites worth mentioning, please leave your comments on this blog or drop me an email and I'll be sure to include it in a post! Have fun and be good y'all!

Wabber will also contain a number of cartoon strips including ze Guru (covering spiritual and relgious humor), Stat (a medical related strip), and casino pigs (a gambling related cartoon strip).

More photo fun
The latest Helen Zille photo caption contest didn't draw as many comments as the previous Zuma Zulu captions but still some good reads there nonetheless. Wonkie will probably be making this a regular feature going forward - once a week to take you into the weekend - please feel free to submit any photos you think may be a laugh to caption - looking forward to this weeks one with the honourable President Malema.
If you do come across any funny cartoon sites please do forward them so we can incorporate them here.

Weekend Photo fun
Photo caption contests seem to be a hit all round on cartoon and comic websites. The latest addition that came out was a Photo of Jacob Zuma in zulu dress on Wonkie which drew close to 100 caption entries to the photo on the first day.
Check it out and be sure to add your entry to win a free Wonkie T-Shirt!
With the inauguration of Jacob Zuma over yesterday, the focus will be on the new cabinet in South Africa - I imagine there will be lots of new candidates for cartoon fun going forward!

Even swine flu has its uses
The world has been going crazy with airline screenings for swine flu - everything short of obtaining mandatory rectal thermometer readings at Heathrow. There are a few conspiracy theories around that these rumours about the severity of the virus (H1N1) is being spread by the various pharmaceutical companies that stand to gain the most from the worldwide debacle. 300 infected people is hardly cause for the global panic we all find ourselves in right now!
Today's cartoon on Wonkie (http://www.wonkie.com) takes a different look at the swine flu epidemic and even managed to find an incredibly useful niche use for the virus - or preventative measure against the virus - check out how How to shut up a Julius Malema using a biological threat

The Whole Truth returns
It's been a while since we updated this site - mostly because we've been working on another cartoon portal that will be launching later this month. The demand for these seems to be increasing like crazy - not sure if South Africans are becoming more comfortable with internet humour or what but we've noticed a spike in a number of the cartoon sites we monitor - especially over the last month.
In any case, the new portal - the name still to be determined will be covering more generic cartoons like nET yOUR cATCH, Poker Nights, and some other professional strips targeted at management consultants, investment bankers and medical workers. nET yOUR cATCH will be taking a look at the lighter side of online dating and matrimonial sites.
Now that the 2009 official South African election results are out, the Whole Truth cartoon strip has returned in full force. If you haven't checked these out as yet be sure to do so... particularly if you enjoy Southpark style humour - it's loaded with conspiracy theories, from the involvement of Chuck Norris in the US presidency all the way through to the likely link between Iran, Pakistan, twitter and the swine flu pandemic.

Zimbabwe cartoons
Given the crisis in Zimbabwe's constant escalation and the total lack of competence by the SADC to do something about it, this week's cartoon posts on Wonkie will be dedicated to Zimbabwe.. I've had a sneak preview of some of the cartoons and they're awesome!! Stay tuned for more!

Can the ANC keep their promises?
The ANC election manifesto cartoon on Wonkie tells it all - lots of promises are made by each party official prior to elections. These are soon forgotten as soon as the party is elected. In South Africa, the lack of accountability in government makes it even easier to get away with this sort of behaviour.
Cast your vote today on whether you think the ANC will meet expectations with regard to their promises in the South Africa 2009 elections.

Happy New Year!
Back for 2009 after a nice break over the last few weeks. Had a bit of a rocky start to the year but things seem to be stabilising a bit now. It's funny how most people take the start of the year, a rather arbitrary point in time to determine how the rest of the year is going to pan out.
Wonkie cartoons has introduced a new reader polling feature.. be sure to check out the latest cartoon and cast your vote as to whether you're optimistic about the New Year... whether you've dumped your new year resolutions already or not!

Who is leading South Africa
Zapiro made a great cartoon today for the Sunday Times depicting Kgalema Motlanthe as a mere puppet in the hands of Jacob Zuma. My choice of political cartoon this week definitely goes to Wonkie though for their Bring my the head of Kgalema Motlanthe cartoon... absolutely brilliant stuff!!

Bring me the head of Kgalema Motlanthe
Bring me the head of Kgalema Motlanthe
The number of ways you could spin the word head in the cartoon is amazing - head of the ANC, head of the cartoon character, head of a totally different anatomical part.. LOL!

Is South Africa the new Zimbabwe?
Check out the latest Zimbabwe cartoon on Wonkie and leave your comment. I'm not entirely convinced about the rate at which SA is hurtling towards becoming another Zimbabwe but I can definitely see the parallels there! How scary!!
